@HTHR The Last August? Or farther than that? Won't last long, that's the problem.

@cosine Also a shorter one but it is cold and doesn't look good over pants.

@cosine to clarify, "shorter" is still knee-length.

Played a bit of 2015 wordplay text-adventure Counterfeit Monkey last night with a friend. It's good! Loving the puzzles, took a bit to get in the rhythm of it but then there's those moments where you just get it.So far we've got the single-letter remover, the was-this-changed monocle, and the "restoration gel" (undo a change).#gameing #textAdventure

Accidentally lit my sweater sleeve on fire making dinner. Burnt cotton (or possibly black dye?) apparently smells of toasted marshmellows.First time accidentally igniting!

@OldBrushNewPaper Fine, yeah. Loose sleeve, I just flailed my arm a bit and it blew out.

@codepuppy Seems like a theoretically great idea but I'm not sure how well it would hold up in practice. Would like to be optimistic about it but if everyone actually living there is rent-free, the money for property tax still needs to come from somewhere. And "resource credits" instead of money makes it hard to leave, because they're not good anywhere else. I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. Given that the resources cost money (or could be sold, if made locally) anyway...

@codepuppy What's the benefit of the resource-credit system? "Inflation-free" sounds nice but I don't think it'd hold up – inflation happens on its own when supply or demand change, and you're not going to get isolated enough to stop those. And trying to build a (partially) self-sufficient community without any way of ensuring that work gets done doesn't seem stable.

I do not think I will ever stop being amazed at just how much red there is in even a rather small beetroot.

@lorenschmidt I played a mobster Petal (3.5 MM II) twice. Flower fairy from someone's city windowbox.

@OldBrushNewPaper Just stew, in my case. Four or five meals worth of vegetable stew, with two small beets, and the whole thing is dark pink.

Spent a couple of hours yesterday listening to Schala's Theme and trying to transcribe it to MIDI for eventual remixing. It was really hard to make out the percussion (the only bit for which I didn't have an existing engraving to read).( _ _ ' -- r -- * ), more or less, but every four bars the thing at the end is different.(I don't know any standard way of transcribing what seems to be a mix of bongos and tambourine)

Came out as #trans by way of getting dressed in a skirt this morning and eventually getting seen by Mum this evening. Her first question after our mutually stumbling to "I'm trans" was that she thought I said I was asexual last she heard. Followed by eventual asking-to-confirm "so you feel female?" and possible confusion with crossdressing.1/2#trans #help

She's supportive, which is nice, but oblivious, and if there's anything I'm nonverbal with it's this - can anyone recommend some good edu. readings, comics, infographics, etc to point her at?Still, for a first out this isn't bad.2/2#trans #help #autistic

@Paradox @Rasp The problems are that A: Software problems causing corrupted data to be written over clean older versions will do so on all disks with no chance for recovery, and B: many sources of physical damage (house fire, falling object, large spill, burglar) will break all the drives at once. It's security against drives failing due to natural wear, and nothing else. And if two drives are of similar age, odds are good that one fails soon after the other.

@Paradox @Rasp Periodic backup to a dormant but onsite drive (e.g. a USB backup drive that's updated with a fresh snapshot daily) handles A, especially if it also keeps historical versions. Anything offsite handles both A and B.
