Meta is in bed with the military-industrial complext as it partners with Lockheed Martin and Palantir (amongst many more problematic companies). We are in stage of the corporatisation of war, binding tech giants with the blood-stained machinery of imperialist control. And with Facebook's contentious history in the Rohingya crisis in Myanmar and civil unrest in Ethiopia, where its platforms have been implicated in exacerbating conflict and misinformation, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Meta has crossed the line so many times. QUIT FACEBOOK/INSTAGRAM/WHATSAPP NOW. Whatever “connection” it promises to you is nothing more than a leash, that binds humanity ever tighter to the dictates of state violence and corporate power. No reform either through board meetings or through their so-called human rights report will wash away the blood on Meta's hands.

People can't just leave Facebook, Instagram or Threads or whatever shithole in one day. I know cos I did that move. I had to sacrifice the community I met, online friends I created from Facebook comment sections (of all places), groups and marketplace. Weird shit, I know. One thing that saved me from losing all connections was my position and privilege. They needed something from me either for work or otherwise. And I used that position to make them install Signal."You need to talk to me for something? Here install this app. I wont reply otherwise"I gave an ultimatum. Now, not everyone can do tht because of the different positions we have in this godforsaken world where your worth is tied to whay you can 'offer'. 🫠Yes, I still did lose connections. I can't talk to my aunt who won't install Signal. She even stopped using SMS. Her world is messenger.I can't talk to my bestfriend in highschool for the same reasons.They were bullets I had to bite.Not everyone has that privilege. Not everyone can do that. The media response to DeepSeek is fullblown hypocrisy particularly re western tech industry. You know whats fascinating about this #DeepSeek is how AI ‘gurus’ (or whatever term they want to dignify themselves with) suddenly screaming ‘privacy nightmare’ and ‘censorship’, yet their feeds are full of glorification of #ChatGPT and #Gemini. These are the same people who turned a blind eye on severe human rights issues with Western AI models.DeepSeek’s issues with regards to censorship should NOT be ignored, but if there’s one lesson to pick up from here is that the AI bubble is nearing its end. Deepseek opened boundaries that were once closed because of US techbro oligarchy. Deepseek is what OpenAI promised to be in the beginning, but Altman changed his mind and now wanna profit off it.Deepseek took a large bite off the big plate of US tech oligopoly. It tells us that we actually dont need to burn the whole planet down just for another large language model #llm . And the fact that such #AI ‘democratisation’ (loosely defined) is happening outside of the self-proclaimed world democracy is the biggest irony of 2025 so far. If anything, it serves as a reminder that the future of technology should not be solely dictated by a few nations, may that be #China or the #US. AND IM HERE FOR IT*For shitheads who like jump into comments with low comprehension level. This POST isnt about open source. DeepSeek isnt even open source. Its open weights. Went out to take some night shots in Melbourne and got unwanted attention from two weird men on two separate occassions. First one said he liked my camera and that my hair looks so 'gorgeous'. It was also weird how he said 'I think youre Filipino cos youre all cute'Second one was worse, telling hes been 'looking' at me for awhile and that he was 'amazed' by how I walk. This guy even followed me from the bridge to Flinders station. Oh god. This is why we dont have hobbies cos men ruin everything.
