More research in news this week how it’s the top 10%, those with incomes over £36,000, who are largely responsible for CO2 emissions; but it’s even more than that; middle-class aspirations shape everything. So conscious of this now as I am so driven in finding work so as not to have to sell our (nice, middle class, highly mortgaged house). Then a friend just sent me this - must read. #ClimateDiary

I keep on thinking about the #Postoffice #Horizon scandal (for those of you not based in UK: About 1,000 post office operators were wrongfully prosecuted and convicted by the Post Office between 1999 and 2015, because of faulty Horizon accounting software that suggested they had committed fraud). @aral Exactly, exactly this. So, so well put. My number one cultural reference in the last few years, even pre-genocide, has been and contiues to be The Fire Nation in The Last Avatar (the series). We are the fire nation: so many nice normal people part of an imperial machine destroying everything.

To be honest i can’t stand how all these middle of the road people are now calling Israel’s two year onslaught on #Gaza a genocide. Not hard now to see when so many thousands dead, millions displaced and starving, all institutions and infrastructure destroyed. The point is not what you call it, but to PREVENT it. That’s what the early calls were about. To stand by, say nothing for two years, then come out and look at the total destruction: “oh yeah, that does look like a genocide” - disgusting
