Good morning! I slept sooooo badly but I forced myself to get up because a) I have to get ready for an interview at 8.30 (will she attend?) and b) my sleep has really deteriorated and I must get back into my sleep training. I got complacent and now it’s all gone to pot again. Plus my back was hurting whenever I turned over, which didn’t exactly help.It’s very grey and drizzly here but sun is forecast later so I’ll do my walk in a bit.Feeling generally blah, 2/10 for enthusiasm about the day. Anyone better than that?

So Bluesky is about to require people to verify their age, which means sharing their real identity. I’ve no problem with people knowing my identity but then I’m not trying to hide from abusers. Or explore my gender. Or be a whistleblower. Or protest without getting arrested. Or or or… there are so many reasons people need anonymity. Despite being myself online I am not keen to show Bluesky my scanned face or my bank card. So I guess I won’t be sticking around there.I gave my advice before I left, which was “Switch to Mastodon, nobody there cares who you are, as long as you’re funny.”

Reading an article in Women’s Running magazine about safety and how many female runners feel vulnerable in the day even though you might think it feels safer than running in the dark.I have experienced a fair bit of unwanted attention from male strangers while running or walking alone, from cat calling to being asked to be a drunk man’s girlfriend in an otherwise empty park (bit scary), to a teenager slapping my arse and trying to pull me into the bushes. Only the other day a man in group of other white men in their 20s mimicked my running in a sarcastic way as I ran past them in the street.A friend of mine I met of Twitter actually experienced a man sticking his foot out to deliberately trip her while she was running. She sustained cuts to her face and her confidence in her main psychological wellbeing technique was serious dented.Why can’t men just let women walk, hike or run in peace??

Good morning! I’m confused about what day it is and I slept poorly so I’m a little hazy on time as well. The cat sitters have only just left and them still bring here put me out of routine.Today I need to catch up with my manager on the pre-existing project and just update her on where I’ve got to as she’s been away. The good news is that she emailed yesterday to say our project has been extended until November (it was previously only funded until end of August) so they can employ me on a PT basis to do more data analysis and some of the writing up until then.Have a terrific Tuesday!

Good afternoon. For once we have nothing going on this weekend, no visitors and no overnight trips anywhere, and I took the opportunity to lounge in bed in and out of a dozen until almost noon. I’ve since been to the shops and bought some lovely fruit, corn cobs, and heritage tomatoes.I will do some sort of exercise this afternoon, maybe indoor bike, I’m undecided. Other than that, I hope to finish the two books I’ve been reading and to not do much else!Anyone doing anything exciting this Slackerday?

Found a local news story which has quoted another article which was almost certainly written by AI. It’s about the Pembrokeshire seaside village of Broadhaven growing in popularity as a UK holiday destination and it tells of the village’s multicoloured Georgian town houses (I think they’re thinking of Tenby) and its SEA LIFE centre. Well, there aren’t any of those anywhere in Wales at all, nor is there any other form of aquarium in Broadhaven.Depressing that these “facts” were reproduced uncritically by a local paper that’s actually based here.

Good morning! I slept a lot, couple of bad dreams but thankfully nothing that’s carried through into the day. Nothing major on the to do list, lots of smaller tasks including supermarket shopping, a bit of housework, some financial admin and hopefully time to read. A quiet day.Have a superlative Sunday!

Astonishing! Someone on here suggested I entice tree frogs onto my pergola to eat the spiders that made all those webs this weekend. I explained that sadly we do not have tree frogs in the UK. Then what should I come across today, but a video from a group called Celtic Rewilding explaining that tree frogs are native to Britain but they became extinct at least in part due to their popularity in folk medicine.And now they are being reintroduced! This makes me very happy 😃

@futurebird Exactly this. I have been married three times - cis man, trans woman, cis man - for this reason. The queer woman dating pool is a lot smaller and then there is definitely biphobia in the lesbian community. So there are just more available men

Snow update: still falling in Pembrokeshire. We told our cleaner not to even try to come as she lives in a very rural area where it would be dangerous to drive. My dental appointment was cancelled as none of the team could make it in.Our power has been cutting in and out over the past ten hours or so, so I don’t have a great internet connection for work.For some reason Miss Cinnamon thought it would be a good idea to walk along the top of the garden fence which was coated in snow. We watched her nearly lose her footing with every step. I don’t think she’s ever encountered snow like this.We will stay snug indoors today, although I may go out with a ruler later to see how many centimetres we have had.How’s your day going?
