Hey, all! I am Rob.I have been writing #ruby as a professional for 11 years. Before that, I wrote #perl.I spend most of my time writing code at thoughtbot. I also head up our development team across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.Beyond code, I spend time watching or playing football. I love watching Critical Role and old films. Most of the time, you will find me listening to a playlist I have curated. I also have a part-time job in a local pub.I live in Cheshire, UK.#introduction

@james, the majority of people I followed on Twitter were migrating here if they were migrating to Mastodon. I am glad I came; it is a lovely place that gives me “Twitter 2008” vibes.

@james, what can we as a community do to help the moderators and you? Maintaining this server is significant for you to take on as a volunteer. How do we help?

@james, this tier seems a good starting point, but what if somebody needs you to nod for more than three unsubstantiated claims? Unless you resolve this sooner rather than later, I am returning to Twitter. Your approach smacks of shortsightedness!

@james, you have got to do what is right for you. Somebody asked a good question on another thread. How fast does the community need to grow? Is there another way to solve the problem that you are seeing?

@james, would it be a good or bad thing if I used thoughtbot’s Twitter account to tell the world about ruby.social? I decided to hold off because you were struggling with the number of registrations.

@james, yet again, I will shower you with praise. Thank you for staying on top of things and keeping things moving. We may need to start saying, “James is nice, so we are nice.”

At what point do you reach for keyword arguments in #Ruby? I have a little toy I am playing with that uses some more modern concepts. I am tempted to go for them whenever I have two or more arguments. What do you think? I created a gist to show what I mean.https://gist.github.com/purinkle/0f6fe8d5393c0c64d1fe2e69abe60213
