Finally got a monitor that can *natively* display low resolution, 15khz RGB from my MSXs (MSXes?). This might seem pointless in the era of accessible image scalers, but it's nice to have a straightforward setup where you just turn on the computer and the monitor, not having to worry about powering/setting up anything in between.

So… I just went to a maid cafe in Akihabara yesterday and it was a far cry from the creepy image westerners tend to give it, or maybe where I went was exceptional?No forced “cute” phrases and rituals, just chilling on the counter drinking tea and eating omurice and talking normally with the maids. The only bad thing was my awful Japanese made it tough to sustain a more complex conversation haha. It was interesting to see a fully fledged gray haired salaryman and another girl join in, too.

@textfiles always sad to see we're too far gone with corporate propaganda to remember that the end of a copyright term is as important to copyright law as the temporary monopoly granted by it; the whole point of public domain is to celebrate and formalize a work's status as a shared cultural artifact. That's kind of what Mickey Mouse is these days, isn't it?

Quick solder boards are anything but quick... just spent the whole week trying to make my XStation installation work and after a lot of despair and loss of hope, and many stealth NC pads found later, it's on again. XStation my beloved.

As I mentioned, I'm finally working with my PC Engine racing game homebrew again. The code for this is a python travesty but I finished the tool to generate track and sprite data (or at least made it work enough to complete my project). Now to continue coding the PC Engine side of things :D

Forced unrelated recommendations are a thing of beauty. Every once in a while Youtube sneaks into my searches some really bizarre videos with suggested or full-on gore in its thumbnail (exhumations, "cartel" videos, etc.) even if I never once searched for or watched that kind of content. Even weirder is that I'd get the same recs months after, which means -very- poor moderation.I searched for X, I wanna see X and not "man gets graphically decapitated", am I asking for too much?
