I have just relased a new version 2.9 of GrafX2, "the ultimate 256-color painting program".Binaries are available for Haiku, Gamepark Holdings GP2x, Nintendo Switch, Atari Mint and Windows (yes, our build automation somehow focuses only on the most ridiculous platforms). For Linux it should hopefully be updated in your favorite distribution soon. Not a lot of changes in this version, many bugfixes and more fileformats supported (Apple IIgs, C64, CPC, Atari TT...)#GrafX2 #PixelArt

@nina_kali_nina that explains why I didn't recognize it :)the ordered dithering is very visiple in the sky (but then, not sure there is a much better way with the ega palette, there aren't many dark colors to use). On the city I think it looks great!also I guess I should look at it on a CRT display to get a better idea of the result, it will slightly blur it and make it look more detailed than it is.I had interesting results with scolorq and then replacing the palette with what I wanted

Well that's an interesting attempt to involve me in some dubious activities...I guess chez.com (which was half abandoned since it was put back online anyways) may soon turn into a malware distribution platform and I should finally get proper hosting somewhere for the one site I have there?

I have a bit of a debugging mystery I may need some help with:I have a Python script that runs "ip -s link show" using subprocess.run every second to collect network statistics (and do a few other things that I think are not relevant). Most of the time it works fine, but occasionally it will lock for 18 seconds. The ip process shows as zombie in htop so I think it has finished running, but Python does not immediately get the results. What could cause this and how to debug it?

Hello everyone!Haiku is getting a new beta release sometime soon. We need your help with translations of the user interface and user guide. Usually, our releases only include languages that have at least 60% of the UI translated. You can joint at https://i18n.haiku-os.orgIn particular, we are looking for help with Belarusian, Croatian, Bulgarian, and Korean. I think these all used to have complete translations, but are not being maintained.#haikuos #i18n

It looks like there is no replacement yet for https://rms.sexy Could we have a more diverse and interesting collection of pictures of hackers using their computers in unlikely places?

Finally taking a break from my paid job and having a bit more time to go through pending patches at https://review.haiku-os.org . There are a lot of mostly-finished ones where the original author did not apply review comments. There are some that will need major rework, but sometimes it's just a few coding style fixes. We could do with some help to get this list down! There are a few years-old bugfixes and imhrovements that it's sad to see go unused for so long :(

Today's worklog:- updated my Gerrit to 3.11 and fixed some configuration issues. OpenID identification is now enabled, that should allow anyone to log in without me having to set up specific keys and secrets for each OAuth provider... except I don't know if anyone is still offering OpenID accounts...- updated WebKit for Haiku, made a release, noticed that there was a major crashing bug in it, then made another release. 32bit build seems to again be running out of memory during build

Today I investigated a regression in my Smalltalk interpreter after updating to SDCC 4.5. It turns out the compiler was not to blame, I just forgot to set the RAM size in the CPC emulator, and the interpreter isn't checking the RAM size, so it overwrote a bank when trying to allocate a new one -_-Anyway, despite the wasted time today and energy gathering for that debug session in the last few days, I guess that's good news and I can move on to trying to make a faster garbage collector.

Good news: my "new" logic analyzer was d livered today, it was not damaged by postal services (despite the postman letting the package fall on the ground in front of me) and it powers up fine.Bad news: either the floppy drive or the (orginal) system disk is not working. Spent a couple hours trying to find a working floppy drive and old PC in my parts stash to write a new system floppy. I think my computer from 2003 has a bad floppy controller, couldn't get that to work...

Your periodic reminder that Borland released the sourcecode to Turbo Vision under an open source license, and then someone added Linux, Windows and Unicode support to it, so you can use it to write modern applicationshttps://github.com/magiblot/tvision?tab=readme-ov-file

dosemu2 is pretty cool! There are still some issues to investigate, but porting to Haiku was smoother than I expected. I will not need a DOS machine anymore. (Well, I already didn't really need one.)

I'm not sure why you would ever want to do that, but there is a tool to transform a regex into a fat32 filesystem imagehttps://github.com/8051Enthusiast/regex2fat
