#archlinux on #pinephone today. Its so nice! I'm using it like my daily driver and its at 70% battery halfway through the day. Will see if it makes it to the end. Wireless modem is noticably weaker on this distro, loading pages takes longer but the UI is very smooth.Still not a fan of #phosh but its passable

I think it's pretty awesome that the Messaging app on #pinephone has support for XMPP, Matrix, and Telegram in addition to handling SMS.I'm not sure how to set up a telegram account, as it is asking for a username and password. I don't think Telegram has passwords.. Normally you give the app your phone number and it texts you a code, but that's not an option here.

Pretty happy to remind myself that youtube channels have #RSS feeds, so newsreaders and podcatchers can serve as youtube apps. Both of which are available to me on my #pinephone whereas a Youtube app is not.Only use I have for a youtube app now is when I want to listen to specific music. I'm sure there's a better way to get any song you want on demand. Are P2P networks still a thing? #yarr

@thegibson Been using it for about a month. Its frustratingly slow for every purpose and the battery only lasts two hours unless you put it in standby, where no apps can notify you. Its so bad to use that I am behaving no differently than if i didnt have a smartphone at all. Today, I used my 2010 acer aspire one d255 netbook instead. Blows the pinephone out of the water, performance-wise... and it really shouldnt.

@kranfahrer @thegibson I'm using a braveheart edition with arch, and phosh. Running from internal storage. It only gets unbearably slow (and hot) if firefox is running, which is how i access mastodon now. For other things I'm using TUI apps; canto, castget, cmus, aerc, ranger, etc. Even these are slow sometimes, and the keyboard layout makes them more awkward.

After researching basically all night last night, I can say with some confidence that I'm a Libertarian Socialist. There are some key factors which differentiate my personal ideology from other similar socialist ideologies.I don't want to eliminate currency. I don't believe that is necessary to expropriate wealth from the bourgeoise by violent force, simply changing the system should naturally eliminate their ability to maintain their status. I'm strongly in favor of democracy. I'm ambivalent about "The State", but in favor of a "government" and I believe that while a federal government may not be necessary, it is very convenient for organization of a bottom-up democracy. Of course, the workers should control the means of production, and I don't have a strong preference for how it is organized, but I favor syndicalism as the means and communalism as the organizational structure. I am an Individualist, and I oppose usury: rent, interest, and profit. These are the core tenets of capitalism, and I find them to be exploitative, and they perpetuate the division of people into classes. These are theft to me, in the same way that a RightLib would say "taxation is theft", though I disagree with that. So long as the people paying the tax have a means by which to direct its expenditure and determine their own rate of taxation through democratic means, in other words, "taxation WITH representation" is not theft.The most "utopian" part of my ideology is that I believe if we just implement a better form of democracy, all of the corrupting elements we see today will be neutralized. I want to see money's influence removed from elections, and ranked-choice voting implemented to hopefully eliminate our two-party system which has served to stifle the chances of any candidate who does not fit the status quo.

I just recieved my #thinkpad T470 and it's time to install a linux distro. I always end up installing #archlinux in the end, but for now I will be trying out some other distros. Seeing as the Thinkpad is notably well supported by truly Free software, I'm going to try one of GNU's recommended distros. #guix seems especially appropriate right now.
