now gonna see if it runs. it wouldn't be surprising to find that i have some more work to do. this is the first app i'm building that uses a wndproc. i _think_ i've fully fixed function references and function calls through pointers to windows style, but haven't tested it yet.

my guess is something isn't perfect with resources and it couldn't load the dialog resource or icons or such and bailed on CreateMainWindow. Will have to peek. I wonder if calling DebugPrint from in there would give output to cdb properly. I could always AllocConsole and push text to there i suppose.

i do feel good that things basically worked and we're talking to user32.this is a janky contraption that wraps a patched powerpc elf gcc and binutils, building and linking a relocatable object file, then tears it apart, restating the final elf file as pe-coff.

it'd be nice if gcc's guts weren't so tied to individual assemblers, individual abis and link standards. having that stuff more cleanly separable would be really nice.since gcc is really tied into the final targets (especially inside rs6000.c and rs6000.md) it makes a lot of sense for new targets to speak elf as an input regardless of what they intend to produce. powerpc pe-coff was in a tiny number of versions of gcc for a very short time. the amount of effort required to thread it fully into gcc as it was is enormous compared to the targeted edits of the sysv4 target i made.

it should be fairly practical to port these forward. at some point i'll try it with gcc 13 and a newer binutils, but the original one i started with is a good enough proof of concept.
