@rolle off-topic: how were you able to set up a poll with so many options? Also, was the poll expected to accept more than one answer? My client @ivory only seems to support one answer atm.

@thatfatguy_bg I see. I suppose, mastodon.social keeps rules the closest to those of Twitter.

Murmel updates: Fixing the last small bugs before we open up our #Mastodon instance for testing in the coming days. Results finally aggregate nicely just like in the Twitter version (see the photo).Oh, and Murmel is Mastodon too! Feel free to follow @murmel_social for upcoming updates.

@tante I also use Hugo for my website (https://preslav.me). You need to get used to Go’s templating system (it’s not to everyone’s taste) if you want to make changes to the templates. Otherwise, it’s really, really good.

Sure, everyone knows the original #Rails story, but have you ever heard how #Django came to the Internet world? I found the Django story even cooler and more characteristic of the “good old” Web, slightly before Web 2.0 took over.Hear the story told by co-creator @simon https://djangochat.com/episodes/django-co-creator-simon-willison-ep-21-replay#python #programming #podcast

Speaking about #Django, I’m still on the opinion that #Golang deserves a well-maintained Django-like Web framework. And no, Buffalo ain’t it unfortunately. It’s too niche and some of the design decisions were too closely mapped to #Rails. I’d love a full-stack Go framework that makes extensive use of code generation - especially, in the data access layer. Working with reflection-based “ORMs” like GORM ain’t fun either.

@EU_Commission and not a single one to #Bulgaria? This helps justify my decision to decide to spend my productive years in Germany, but makes me really, really sad about my country, and its level of solidarity.

I’m seeing projects that can easily be managed by 2-3 people, but because of lust for growth and unnecessary complexity, 10 or more ppl end up stepping on each other’s toes.Upside: you end up creating 8 more jobs per project.Downside: Are you actually building anything?I used to live in a world where a pair of folks could launch a decent web app within a week or so. Modern software development gets me tired and demotivated before I’ve even started.#programing #softwaredevelopment

@tante I understand you well. I’ve been in the same situation for the last five years. I even started my own business and that has been on and off my main occupation since, but I’m still soul-searching for my mission in life.My family and I are slowly playing with the thought of moving away from Germany. As much as I appreciate what DE has done for me over the years, there are other places where I could do my best without feeling the constant pressure to stick to the norms and the status quo.

I issued an update to my list of #golang podcasts, which had long been overdue. Notably, I added @fallthroughfm — the unofficial successor to Go Time.If you run a Go podcast in any language and want to see it in the list, feel free to reach out to me.https://preslav.me/2023/06/28/podcasts-for-golang-developers/
