I feel like we should replace some credit in high school with a like "get ready for the world" course that covers: - Your rights as a renter - Your rights as an employee - Your rights as a citizen - How tax brackets work - How to use a food bank - How to donate to a food bankMost of us never need to dissect a cat, use derivatives, or calculate how many moles of something there are in a flask after school. But we've all had a terrible landlord/boss/etc.

Does anyone else feel like couriers all got worse during peak covid, and blamed it on covid, then never got any better?

@foone I bought a Maslow cnc thing a few years back, and realized I either had time for woodworking as a hobby, or running a Maslow. So I get the feeling. I sold the Maslow for a song and bought a shaper instead.

@foone but will he be shot by a laser designed to kill a mouse repeatedly? That’s key.

So putting an air purifier in a day care cuts kids sick days by a third.https://yle.fi/a/74-20062381Man, someone from Waterloo public health should just grab their credit card, order 220 air purifiers, and give two to every child care center in the city.

The more I learn about cryptography, the more I think Alice and Bob should probably just talk in person.

@foone somehow this brings “mega race” to mind. An early cd-rom game. Memory is clearly fuzzy, but I think it had a bunch of stuff to show off how much storage they had on a single speed cd-rom

In order to say "X is really important to achieve Y" you need to try things other than X. So if you write a blog post about how hiring engineers who are a great fit is the most important thing. And one of the 'tests' you give them is to see if they select grapes or candy as a snack, then only hire people who eat the candy. You don't actually know that eating candy is important, it's the only thing you've done. You need to hire some grape eaters and see if anything changes.

Posts that say "We tried A, B, and C, and things really took off when we tried C" are just so much more useful (and believable) than posts who just say "We've always done D and it's amazing"
