A lot of people talking about how Mastodon isn't ready to replace twitter.I sign up to new social networks all the time... Ello, Peach, Meerkat, Clubhouse, Vine, and dozens of Slacks and Discords... most of these failed or didn't grow but they were fun and different with new people and new ways of interaction.I signed up to Mastodon years ago and it's one of the few that is still here chugging along.Maybe it's not for you, but stop declaring it doomed. Lots of people like it and that's ok.

@simon I did see someone who was doing exact that and getting pretty interesting results … I can’t find it now though… I’ll look and see if I can find it. It’s a really cool usage.

@kaia not for me but also check your viewing history… I had my mouse pointer come to rest on a lame video which auto-played all the way through and then YouTube thought I’m really into twitch-streaming style game reviews for a bit.

@kaia this happens all the time in Japan because most Japanese people have no more than 6 characters in their full name but foreigners have a ton of katakana.
