i was today years old when i learned about "reactive abuse", something especially common in narcissistic parental abusers, where they push and prod and gaslight until their victim reacts in a manner that the abuser can then blame shift onto and say "Hey I'm totally calm and cool, they're the crazy one" holy shit. like i knew, but i didnt KNOW.

the person that loves you isn't the one that's super involved in all of your passions and hobbies, the person who shares your tastes, the one that knows every detail of your obscure aestheticthe person that loves you is the one that's excited because YOU are excited, even if they don't understand a single fucking word you are saying. they are the people who send you something completely random outside of your realm of knowledge and crossed over into theirs because they see little bits of you in their world.it doesn't matter if this is friendship or romance or platonic life stuff. that's a person that loves you.

a person that loves you doesn't always say the right things, but they make the effort to understand what you are trying to tell them. the person that loves you will learn your language, whether its a verbal language or a visual one or something else completely.the person that loves you, doesn't love you in spite of your flaws, or illnesses, disabilities or trauma, or any of that. they love you because they see you as a whole and complete person, as different as any other and as deserving of love of any other.

and one last thing:any relationship is giving it your all BUT this doesn't mean 50/50 or 100/100it means that what you have to give at the moment is enough. if you can only give it 5% on a bad day, they may not get it but they do get that is it your all. if you can't give even 0% and are in crisis mode, you know that person will try to give you what they can.all relationships are work, but its a comforting and satisfying type of work if they are healthy. its the comfort of knowing you are cared for and understood, and knowing that turmoil might be on the horizon some ways off but you have a person, or people, beside you that will brace you from falling. and hey if you all get knocked down, you know you can help each other stand again.
