This week (before DarkSky apps turn off forever) Apple advises in the apps how the new iOS 16 and macOS 13 Weather app is great.Well on Mac it's better than the nothing from before. But it's obviously an iPad app. The fonts are small. Content does not resize to larger than a physical iPad.It wants to do a lot of horizontal scrolling (which is annoying if you don't use an Apple mouse/trackpad, but shift-scrolling does work).The DarkSky website *was* great! 🥺🌨️😶🌫️

@Eggfreckles I was very against "System Settings" in theory, I guess for nostalgia reasons. But I have come to appreciate it. The spatial layout of Sys Prefs was comforting, but since it changed subtly every year, after 20 years I was getting confounded trying to find what I wanted.

@shaman @deirdresm about 10 years ago the USA Army told Congress it has plenty of tanks and doesn't want any more. Congress bought another bunch anyway. A lot of them are stored in Nevada desert near-ish to Reno.Probably in better condition than the bazillions of Russian tanks that are alleged.

@strypey I didn't know it, but allegedly (as I listen to ChockBlock and Gruber on DaringFireball Talk Show podcast) the Twitter API did not allow you to incorporate other apps.Now that is kaput, maybe in the future?

@Rasp @adrienne During the 2004 US presidential election season, I put a satirical bumper sticker in my car's back window that said "GOP: Eat The Poor!" but I was living at home and my parents asked me to not do that because they thought the neighbors wouldn't get the satire. 🙃

Everyone I know has had a mild-ish case of COVID.Although I was away from them when they had it.I have gotten many innoculations regarding COVID and it ruined me for 3 days. So I would think I might notice.I intend to get another COVID booster, but it is a grim affair. When I get it, I feel more sick than I ever have, and feel like my arm has already broken off.They say that means I have a good immune system … … …After a day I am fine.

at my second Pfizer booster, I woke up feeling so ill I wondered if I ought to go to the hospital. I have never felt so ill in my adult life.I told myself, power through it. And I did.

@daringfireball It is a grotesque spectacle. But rather than assuming Tim's avarice, I assume he is essentially falling upon his sword to keep Apple in the good graces of a mad king for hopefully not too long.It will be an interesting part of his biography in ~ 20 years.
