@nuttgodd Austin Walker claims to have gone through every V word in the dictionary three times over when trying to name Vice's games site.The name he settled on? Waypoint. Which starts with what the Swedes call a dubbel-v, so I guess he succeeded twice simultaneously.

I guess "trousers" overtook "pants" in general usage at some point, and at some later point "underpants" was abbreviated, since it no longer clashed.
