       @solsetur there is a public toilet at a local playground near my apartment here in Tokyo that is not so unlike these things, and Amsterdam also had lots of... Very public... And mobile.... Pissoirs. So these things have definitely made it to the modern age.Can't be sure about Greece though, since I seem to recall that "barbarism" refers to something that is outside of Greece. 😅

       @solsetur also, I once attended an english class at a French University where the British teacher explained to the students that public urination (at non-designated locations) can get you into trouble with the police in the UK, indicating that it is more accepted in France, which your story would also support.For the record, I have seen it in Tokyo as well.  During the day. On a big public street. By a Japanese person, by the looks of it. Certainly the exception though.
