I started copying some cassette tapes I found at my parent's not really expecting to come across anything of interest. But here's 3 minutes of scifi noises made by a combination of ice movement, seals, and who knows what else my dad recorded in the Antarctic over 40 years ago.

These are Weddell seals apparently. They make all kinds of space noises it seems but with the sheer variety in the recording I'm guessing there's other critters too?

I got a much clearer copy after I rebuilt the cassette with newer parts. Also there's a little more to the recording. This was mailed back to my mom and follows dad saying hi to their dogs.

Found a very cute portable TV on the curb!Panasonic with 1981 stamped on the back.I'm kinda doubtful that it's still functional but it would be a great project housing if nothing else.

@Ricardus best to take it apart first and make sure it won't explode or anything. So in a bit once I clear my bench off.

@futurebird There are so so many.I have a little adapter cables for pretty much every connector ever put on a cell phone. Including some that are USB on one end and the other end is shaped like the phone battery.Worst that I've made and still regularly use: NEMA 14 (US dryer plug) to NEMA 5 (US wall outlet). Yes it is wired to provide 220V to whatever you plug in.A cable that has been in the box of USB cables for over a decade but I've literally never used:

I have acquired a little handlebar button widget, so my bike turn signals now work in a logical way! I'll wire the other buttons up to do something later.#bikeTooter
