In #MARCHintosh-esque fashion, I decided to make my #Macintosh System watch cursor clock concept a reality!I wrote the display code for it—It's all #CircuitPython, testing it here on an #Adafruit MagTag (using the buttons to add/remove 1h or 5min).Now I need proper hardware, especially a square(ish) ePaper display.. Ideas welcome!:git_logo: https://github.com/pndurette/system-watch-clock

I explored making it pixel-perfect, but it didn't make any sense. I got all the watch cursor frames from ResEdit, but it only makes sense if it's 9 o'clock and you don't want any precision.I'm not 100% satisfied at how the hands are currently showing, especially how they're joined. I don't want it to be a circle, as this should be blocky, so I wrote some code to fill the gap between the two rectangles forming the hands, but, WIP. Again suggestions welcome!#MARCHintosh

The #IceStorm situation in #Montreal isn't January 1998 [1], but it might be the worse case I've seen since then. Be safe everyone.[1] An event that coincidently just turned 25: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/January_1998_North_American_ice_storm

This photo of the #Montreal #IceStorm by Patrick Sanfaçon of La Presse is pretty striking—From [fr]: https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/2023-04-05/pluie-et-verglas-au-quebec/plus-d-un-million-de-foyers-prives-d-electricite.php

As much as I'm excited to move back to Montréal this year, I'll say that one thing I told myself I didn't miss when I moved to Toronto 12 years ago was the ice storms! But Montréal is still worth it.

@SuperDicq the anachronism of a 1991 computer in 1983 bugs me, but that would have been quite a piece of the future!

@simon I spent some time last year digging into all of that. One thing I still struggle with is omitting certain files from the package, but not the source (e.g.. tests) especially if they're inside the package. So I just include them. But it's way more clean and I don't feel I need Poetry or anything like that anymore. And the 'build' package is magical!

@leo When I read the news I first thought about when he hosted the Screen Savers with Woz, while he was still not allowed to touch a computer. And then this moment.

clabretro’s series on the Sun Ray thin clients with “Java Cards” definitely is a great way to get into the modern end of #Suntember. I’ve always found those so fascinating and convenient.I remember seeing those at other universities and was jealous. Plus the CDE is so nice (and purple and gray). https://youtu.be/9BW-mbC7Xag?si=drNpu_nW_8Z4KUro

@simon Great examples as always. “Envision a world where the pulsating rhythm of [pelican’s] dive is no longer a percussion in the symphony of the wild.”
