Not even just the Americans... I turn the radio off at this time of year because it follows this pattern so much (comic: XKCD)Ed- this is part of Hank Green's video "why was every president born in the same year?" Which is well worth a watch

@foone I'd not be the least bit surprised to hear about people picking them up to run Hashcat.

Companies latched onto Pride because they saw it as a money-maker. And as soon as it becomes less of a money-maker for them, they'll jump ship.Pride is a protest, frankly. And the people in the community, make the community. Not the corporations latching on to make a quick buck.

I wonder if anyone's managed to get a recent #linux #arm kernel running on an EP9302 (ARM920T) TS7200 or TS7300 board - because I'm having no luck at all with Kernel 6.18.2.I thought I'd at least see "Decompressing Linux" but no...

@foone foone please stop inspiring me to deliberately introduce random bugs in my processing pipeline.I don't think the museum would appreciate researchers being turned into furries

If anyone's after a cheap Toshiba Libretto, I just got a notification for this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/317737501457Currently £1. Looks rough. "No power on" with no hard drive is understandable: these will play possum if the hard drive isn't fitted. Shove a Compactflash adapter in and you're golden.

I've been building a text-terminal interface for Koha:https://github.com/philpem/koha-opac-tuiIt's based on screenshots and photos I found of the Dynix user interface, with some elements of BLCMP I remember, and a couple of features (like MARC view) I wanted. Please try it, thrash it, and report any bugs you find!(ObFD: it was created with AI; I'm planning some rework because the code is quite meh in places)

My goal with this is to use the BLCMP and Dynix user interfaces as inspiration for something similar but new.I'd also like to see screenshots, printouts and photos of BLCMP, Dynix, and other systems (I believe there's a Lockheed Information Systems one which I can't find hide nor hair of)

@foone thanks! I found some others in "Dynix: A guide for librarians and systems managers" though they've been re-typeset. That series also has books on GEAC, BLCMP, SWALCAP and URICA. The URICA and SWALCAP ones have actual screenshots. It's surprising (to me) how many were based on PICK and UniVerse, though I guess it makes sense if you're building a database.

@foone IA had it for a while and still has most of the other books (not Dynix, the others) in controlled digital lending. Anna's Archive archived the Dynix one while it was still up.
