@a this sounds scary 😮. I always thought about .docx files when it comes to vulnerabilities, not .pdf. Raw markdown might be something I will look into, it would play nicely as I love obsidian. Im a web designer and most of my clients offer pdf downloads like whitepapers on their websites. These files are not accessible, so I try to find alternatives that I can recommend. Making them accessible is also an option, but it takes them too long I think.

@clive completely understand the change in aesthetics and also hope that society will undergo it. Had a similar discussion about the aesthetics of wind turbines, they also give me a glimpse of a better future 😍

@clive I was at an outdoor festival in poland where thwy installed a couple of vintage telephones around the area. Picking one phone up and a random phone on the area ringed, you were connected with a stranger that walked by and picked up. I loved this! The pneumatic tubes are even nicer, loved them as a kid in the supermarket where they used them to send change money between the registers.

@aral I read it, but I dont understand it. So they still sell my data to ad companies and show me ads (e.g. in new tabs), which they didn't do before, right? @sophie thanks for this amazing article. 😍Im currently building my personal Site in WordPress and find it quite challenging to avoid JavaScript. After reading your article I want to try that. Also im focusing on accessibility and making it accessible for slow internet connections and not focus on only wealthy western web. Its so much fun building it.
