@minimalparts I can relate. In the past ~4 years it’s been impossible to avoid the topic in Software Engineering as well.I am here to explore ways to deliver software better, through collaboration, testing strategies, continuous integration, etc.Lately it feels like all anyone wants to talk about is “How are you using AI to write code?”, I’m not. The mechanical act of typing was never the hard part.

@asie IMO the “solution” (I know it’s very far from trivial, but it is *possible*) has always been that the modding API needs to provide adequate abstractions to not tie mods to a specific game version.

I never use the web front end, yet I pay the compose cost of running it. I receive and send relatively few activities, yet the software is running constantly.So that led me to want to experiment with a cloud-native alternative. What would an ActivityPub server, implemented specifically for running in the cloud, be?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the very idea of Open Source was always a radical left leaning ideological stance.You're GIVING AWAY labor to the tune of millions of dollars because of some notion that we'd all be better off together if we didn't have to re-write the same dang components over and over again.Of course members of the Open Source community are going to get political. We always have been.

@futurebird Thank you for sharing.I see some similarities with my own experience of American Christmas, being raised in a Scandinavian culture where Jul (Yule) is a very different tradition.The consumerism, the self-centrism, all feels very gross and not at all what I connect the holiday with.
