obviously he wasn't onto everything and he was still kind of a bad scientist, but he did actually use the scientific method and noticed a link between reported childhood sexual abuse and certain "hysteria" (as it was then known). but because his formulation implicitly accused respected men of incest and sexual abuse, he was threatened and then hastily came up with a new theory to cover his ass about abandoning the first one.

@paper_crook it's part of a dichotomy of media analysis; Watsonian (analyzing what is in the story and the reasoning of it from the internal logic of the story), and Doylist (analyzing what is in the story based on the author's intent and them as a perosn)

@comrade_lecter you tend to notice when this type of person uses "TMEs" as a noun, it's only ever to refer to trans people. Very occasionally to cis women. Never seen it used to refer to cis men. It really is just a way of dividing people by AGAB

@comrade_lecter @mushroomfemboy MatPat is a Youtuber who makes videos on a channel called Game Theory where he makes theory videos about games. he recently annnounced he will no longer be making videos.this has caused a bunch of people to come out of the woodwork with some overrought allegations, some of which include1) he used some ableist and homophobic science in 13+ year old videos, which he later apologized for2) he once laughed at an "attack helicopter" joke without understanding why it was transphobic, and he apologized for that3) he once accidentally used he/him for Kris from Deltarunethere's some more but those are the ones that get thrown around the most
