@neauoire @rek once again, I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking at (and I love it). Please indulge me one more time and tell me, (1) what OS is this? (2) what window manager is this? And (3) besides Orca, what's the editor in the background that I'm often seeing? A #uxn code editor maybe?I find it interesting because it's so foreign to me. My curiosity is peaking!Actually one more thing, where do you get all your beautiful wallpapers?

We need a viable replacement for Facebook. I know #friendica is the go to #fediverse option, but what needs to happen for people to decide to switch? My friends and even my wife still use FB and all for the same reasons. Groups and marketplace. No one really uses it much anymore to share status updates or holiday pics. No one really uses messenger anymore either. There's other apps for all that. I do miss not having access to buy/sell groups and FB marketplace, it's the only place to buy & sell.

Should I bother with #NixOS? I have a spare drive currently running Pop!_OS but I no longer game on Linux so I feel like switching it up. But do I need NixOS? Probably not... I can't really see the benefits for a single user system that'll likely just get used for ricing, web browsing and consuming media. I have a basic grip on how NixOS works but I'm already frustrated that I can't just put shell scripts in /usr/local/bin. I'll have to write derivations for all my scripts.Should I?

Seeking collective empathy and encouragement.My job sucks. I didn't choose it. I was made redundant in the role I loved, and redeployed into a role I really don't want. I'm looking for other work, but it's crazy out there. My manager knows I'm unhappy. They also want my gone, because my disinterest in the work has manifested in my performance. Buy the whole ship might sink soon, depending on whether the state govt decides to refund out program. I'm just a bit lost atm. Any words of wisdom?

Over the past month, I've finally ditched windows, installed #Bazzite, then #Fedora 41, then #Debian testing, then Fedora 42. For all but Debian I set up my machine completely.For someone who likes to tinker with my system in learning the hard way that these OOTB systems aren't really designed to be tinkered with, at least not under the hood. I still maintain a #VoidLinux machine and it's been the most stable of all my systems. But Fedora is growing on me slowly. Flatpaks and all.

@justine I'm currently using Xorg with the lxqt DE and Openbox WM on NetBSD. I'm not opposed to Wayland, but I'm not interested in switching to an alternative DE right now just so I can be on Wayland.I still think Wayland is pretty buggy, even on my Gnome Fedora 42 Workstation.Also, there are no screensavers for Wayland (yet) 😕
