How to say "you weren't wrong, we were wrong" in the most roundabout, weaselly way possible. #LastPass

Forget about the law-breaking & the "one rule for you, another for us" hypocrisy. Forget about the lies. Forget about the 150,000 covid deaths.Forget the cost of living crisis.Forget about the £billions of fraud. Forget the BBC guttering & the NHS sell-off.Forget about the authoritarian legal power grab. Forget about the broken Brexit promises. It's all good… we've knocked down some trees so you can have another lane on the sports centre roundabout! 👍

Surprised the bookies have Sunak so far ahead. All pundits I've heard have said the Tory members are likely to choose Johnson, as long as he gets his 100 nominations. He has 57 public backers. At his current rate (26% of MPs declared), I make that 94 nominations from all 357 MPs. So it's already close.Mordaunt could well pull out, in which case surely he'll pick up at least the 6 he needs.Plus I bet a higher % of "shy" MPs are reluctant to back him publicly.

@heydon is a great speaker. This talk is a brilliant takedown of capitalism, blockchain etc, melded with web development, and lots of laughs 👏 👏 👏

Another speaker criticising how the web has become "too centralised" and how "social media is the biggest offender for this"... after a title slide promoting their Twitter handle 🙃

"What you discover in natural disasters is this coming together, this comradeship, this sense of connection & people are able to survive far more than they believe possible…We've been schooled [that resilience is] individualistic. Resilience is the strength we draw from each other." - Bruce DaisleyFrom this podcast, actually mostly about Twitter (he's a former Twitter VP, booo! But I really like that quote! ^)https://shows.acast.com/byline-times-podcast/episodes/elon-musk-democracy-and-twitter

OK here's another one because it's too good not to share!"In the land of Web Development, there was a great evil that threatened the peace and harmony of the land. This evil was the single-platform app, which sought to enslave all users and restrict their access to the vast wealth of information and functionality that the web had to offer.1/

"The single-platform app was a ruthless and cunning foe, using its powers of native performance and offline functionality to lure users into its grasp. It sought to monopolize the market and keep users locked into its proprietary ecosystem, cutting them off from the rest of the web.2/

Thinking back to this blog post I wrote 7 yrs ago: https://peteroshaughnessy.com/posts/artificial-intelligence-future-of-coding/"We need programming languages to bridge the gap between humans and machines… As computers get smarter and better at interpreting what we want, we should expect that we’ll be able to move closer - or fully - to our natural human language."ChatGPT can write code. But beyond that, will we even need the code? Why bridge the gap to computers, now that they've bridged the gap to us?

"Although the experiment got more energy out than the laser put in, this did not include the energy needed to make the lasers work - which was far greater than the amount of energy the hydrogen produced."https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-63950962"A rock falling down a hill generated more energy than it took for me to push it off the top!
