I just saw X play live two nights ago. John Doe is 71. Exene is 68. Billy Zoom had to sit down the whole time. They still killed it though. I hope I have that much energy and passion when I get there.John Doe's book, Under the Big Black Sun, is great for anyone wanting to read about this period in LA punk history.https://www.betterworldbooks.com/product/detail/under-the-big-black-sun-a-personal-history-of-l-a-punk-9780306825330

I lived around the corner from this hall in 1985 and went to the show. I was alone, 19 and totally out of my element. I loved the music but those people and that hall scared me. I remember the really low ceiling and smoke filled room. It was fucking LOUD and there was no place in there that wasn't part of the mosh. But yeah, great stuff.

This reminds me of a little story. Back around 1984/85, living in OC, I was a HS punker and my friend was a metalhead. One day he tells me that he was hanging out with another guy (in LA), and that guy knew another guy, named Rocky. Rocky was excited because he had just recently been invited to join Suicidal Tendencies, and he invited all of them over. Rocky ended up playing the riffs from all of the ST songs he had just learned and they all got stoned and had a good time. I wasn't there, but I wish I was. Those were the days, for sure.
