@evan Qualified No because I'm not comfortable saying "never" - I might entertain that exceptions exist. But generally, if a story is worth telling, it's worth telling as is.My answer leans closer to "No" the more integral to the story. An example front and center in my mind is "American History X" - remove the racism and you remove the magnitude of the character's redemption.

@evan Another consideration might be whether it is glorifying, condemning, or providing the racism as context. And in the case of "glorifying", I'd lean toward "choosing not to stream" before censoring it.

@evan I assume "Strong no" means we put extra coal in the oven even though it's already hot enough.

@evacide "I used to spend hours trying to get the image on the right page. Now I use org-mode LaTeX and just accept that it's impossible.""I don't really have time to play Emacs. I gotta work on that config."I'm dying. That was me and I have died.

@pete_wright In my experience, there are two things that affect intra-POSIX cross-platform Rust:1. Rust often interfaces with the system at a lower level where differences are more noticeable.2. Simple lack of interest/demand. Often structural OS similarities aren't enough to mandate more time, or resources porting in either direction.

@pete_wright A project at work decided to use the terminal app ztop internally to monitor ZFS activity on Linux. We realized that it was a FreeBSD-only program, and even though they both used ZFS, FreeBSD exposes statistics via sysctl, while Linux uses procfs. The author had insufficient resources and/or interest to port it himself, so the porting fell to me.I guess that makes ztop an example of (1), (2) _AND_ (3), where (3) is "PRs welcome"
