I’ve never hesitated this long to buy my ticket – but #35c3, here I come!

Oh look, I made accidental data art while playing around with sea depth models.

@bleeptrack @jugendhackt If you have a German transcript, YouTube is really good at syncing it to your video and generating subtitles which you can then translate to English. Might be less effort than manually syncing English subtitles. When I do synchronous interpretation of conference talks, I advise speakers to go for English if they’re confident in it and for German if they’re nervous about their English. Your written English is good, so maybe give it a shot?

So we translated 107 #36c3 talks into German, 77 into English, 59 into French, 23 into Spanish, 14 into Russian, 8 into Polish, and the most frequent question for @c3lingo seems to be “Where can I find Security Nightmares in Swabian”. I think we’ve misunderstood our audience.

I’m curious: while working from home for the past nine months or so, have any of you tried out new forms of collaboration beyond (video) meetings, real-time chat and email? Which ones? How’d it go?

@ginsterbusch How do you communicate with colleagues/clients? Is it still mostly synchronous and/or ephemeral communication (like meetings, chat and email)? I’m amazed at the number of video meetings we have that could just as easily have been written down and archived somewhere for future reference.

@aral Ooh, I love how you’re displaying the first six digits of the commit hash as the “favourite colour”, that’s such a neat idea!

@foone If someone made a Python fork and called it Numberwang, I would switch instantly!

@aral @rmi Helix is fantastic! I switched from VS Code (with Vim keybindings) to Helix a few months ago and couldn’t be happier.
