@ajroach42 Finally working through the backlog of stuff to fix in my dwelling place (some of that "planned" for nearly a decade)Slower than expected, worse than possible (I'm not a craftsperson), but done and off the list 🥳#TellMeSomethingGood

@ajroach42 Wordpress (which you seem to use) supports "multi-site" installs where a single install serves multiple independent blogs (plugins and themes are shared but can be enabled/disabled per-site)

That's a truly #retro take on modern communication: "Conduit installer" means that there's a component on a PC that fetches updates from the Fediverse and syncs them to the PalmOS device when it's physically connected, together with syncing back (and publishing) any replies written offline since the last sync. And it's not just retro, it should also be a rather effective dopamine regulator: You get to read the Fediverse more like a newspaper, instead of being shown something that resembles a 24/7 cable news feed.https://hachyderm.io/@knickish/112510641342808484

@ajroach42 I had that recently as well. Let's see if "I don’t know how I rank competitively because that requires an interest in other people’s grades." convinces them.

@ajroach42 If it's 6 hours at night time, maybe put up something like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Night? NASA imagery is public domain, and there should be (potentially royalty free) chill-out music available.

@ajroach42 @eldaking I fear you'll have to write a design doc for your ideal game, proclaim loudly that it doesn't exist and OSS folks aren't able to do it anyway, then wait two weeks for somebody to prove you wrong ;-)(And then you'd have a game that is free-as-in-puppy: you'll care for and invest in the code for the rest of your life)

@kyle If there's some stupid idea you come up with and it isn't immediately marketable for your employer, your best bet is to file a patent, take the bonus and then forget about it.Patents don't mean intent to build the "invention", they only mean intent to build a war chest to use on the patent mine field.

Sometimes I dream of building a system for myself with a server somewhere that supports email, activitypub, xmpp, matrix... for internet-side communication protocols - and translates them into something I could interact with via a BBS-style interface (that I could share with friends or use alone). And not "ActivityPub in this telnet session, email in that" (this is already feasible, with pleroma+addon for AP, email e.g. via citadel), but all of them flowing into a single BBS system (maybe via doors or tosser style interfaces for interactive and asynchronous interfaces, respectively.)All the asynchronous bits (which includes microblogging and RSS) could even be packaged up Fido-style (FTN is still a thing) for local offline consumption.
