@strypey It's just waiting on https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/merge_requests/13682. I believe all the work is done, and when one of the volunteers approves and merges it it'll be in F-Droid. I think that typically takes 24-48 hours.

#Pachli joins the #NivenlyFoundationSince the Pachli project started the goal has been to "provide a first class organisation to manage the development of the application under the 7 cooperative principles".The project is now a step closer to that goal, as the Nivenly Foundation (@nivenly) membership and board have voted to accept the project's membership application.https://pachli.app/pachli/2024/05/05/pachli-joins-nivenly.html

This news drops just as I’m about to leave for vacation, so there’ll be more updates in late May / early June with concrete changes.Sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.

@Piky_Nieves thinking about it, as a user choice.There's some concern about what this would do to the F-Droid listing, so I've filed https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroid-website/-/issues/749 to get clarity from the F-Droid volunteers.

@lauteshirn You mean the same options that are currently controlled by the Preferences > Tabs setting?

@lauteshirn there's a dark theme and a black theme.

@lauteshirn "Dark" is a dark grey, consistent with Android's normal difference between a light and a dark theme."Black" uses pure black (RGB #000) for the background. Some people think that may be more power efficient for AMOLED screens. Some searching shows lots of arguing back and forth about that online, I have no idea whether it has a benefit or not.

@lauteshirn ah, I understand.It's darker than Tusky because if it wasn't there wouldn't be enough contrast between the lighter colours (eg text, links) and the dark background.This lack of contrast can be an accessibility issue. This isn't a theoretical concern, see https://github.com/tuskyapp/Tusky/issues/3477 for example.

It's been a rainy day in Zurich, so I had a free hour to prototype some changes to how media is attached to posts in #Pachli.What do we think?

@Stomata I'm not sure what you mean here. Is this a bug report? A feature request?

@frauxirah has noticed (thanks!) that the new options for quote post visibility don't play nicely with smaller screens. The "Toot" button doesn't always fit.This is an opportunity to make a change I've been thinking about for a while, since there are a number of problems with its current location anyway.1. There's just not a lot of space, even on larger devices. This is a particular problem with languages with a longer typical word length than English.

2. It's close to lots of other things you might want to tap, so it's easy to accidentally send a post.3. As much as Android can be said to have a "design language", it includes putting whatever action will close the current screen at the top right (e.g., the "Send" button when writing an e-mail in GMail).The screenshots in the next post show a change I plan on rolling out in Pachli Current on Monday.

Both screenshots show the same change, one for a large device, one for a small device. In each one the image on the left is the current UI, the image on the right is the new UI, with changes highlighted). The changes are:1. Move the "#", "@", and "Language" buttons in the toolbar from the right to the left.2. Move and shrink the avatar of the account you're using to the start of the "Posting as..." text.3. Move the "Toot" button to the top right.

This gives more space for the "Toot" button, keeps it away from anything else you might want to tap on, keeps the avatar close to the account name, and is consistent with Android design.Feedback welcomed.

@publicvoit If you'd like the reading position to be remembered reliably, and restored, you might like to try https://pachli.app.There's no "Load more" button -- content loads as you scroll, and your reading position is remembered and restored across multiple timelines.Since you mentioned the font size, Pachli lets you change that, and also change the font,
