I’m hearing murmurs of YouTube blocking browsers that support ad blockers.You know where you don’t have to worry about such things? Host your videos on a #PeerTube instance and use #Owncast for your live video streaming needs.But of course you already knew that.

Today is the three year anniversary of Owncast's first commit. I hoped a new release would be ready by "First Commit Day", but a little more time is needed. Thank you for your patience and support, here's to another three years!

Do you use Owncast but don't enable Fediverse functionality? I'd love to hear from you to learn your use case. I'd love to see more Owncast instances on the Fediverse, and I want to learn why people don't. @lps @celesteh @eulerroom You already don't need to log into anything to watch an Owncast powered stream. Alternatively, many native video players will play the stream out of the box. VLC, for example.

@nuekaze There is no notion of a "channel". Owncast is single-user, infrastructure software. You install it to run your video stream. It's not a service for others, but software for you. It's not meant to replace Twitch or YouTube or whatever.

Owncast rarely does any social media related things, and doesn't use this account much. There's nobody to focus on such things.We're determining if we should delete our account and stop worrying about it, completely, as it's not used much anyway, or what the alternatives are.The fact that we're on Fosstodon, and is starting to get messages with the vibe of "you better move, or you're a nazi" isn't great.Please, meanwhile, do not take this account as an implicit endorsement of anyone.
