@sleepmode I can understand joke lore getting the axe but I'd like jokes about moves and viability staying because honestly they tend to convey the message of a move better than raw info can. I learned more about Greed Sever from reading "~~UNBLOCKABLE~~ Low Crush" than I did looking at the frame data.

@aj Most people do the "open-ish registration" of "shoot me an email so I know you're a real guy" but it helps to disclose that somewhere

@seanmcbeth IIRC, aggressive registration cards. Telemetry just made that easier.

@aj I think your latest web redesign removed the link to the FAQ.

@alcinnz Seems like you hit the nail on the head there. Free work for zero cost, or at least a relatively expectable cost "on commission" for the price of electricity.

@Sir_Boops eh, people have said this for decades. Metal, MacOS support for Steam, the Apple Pippin, etc.

@novenary I used to work with Staples and was called out to help install Printers, mostly HP ones as they were cheap and had a recognizable brand name. It's that bad. For a while they forced you to set up new printers with the HP Smart app for basically no reason. They didnt ship with USB drivers and if you tried to go around it by installing the drivers yourself, the printer would show warning lights for no reason after 5 prints and tell you to use the HP Smart app or it wouldn't let you print anyway.Obviously, the HP Smart app is designed to upsell you on their subscription ink service, designed to undercut local businesses and nickle-and-dime you out of money for ink you dont use.

@novenary Addendum: its very explicit. The warning light was specifically listed in the manual with an error reason of "The USB Cable is for troubleshooting the printer only. Please print using the HP Smart app."Many of our customers were rural and did not have WiFi or even Internet at home, and ended up having to use their phone's mobile hotspot system to print.

@novenary Aye, its a sour spot that not enough people know about. I warn people as much as I can. Not many people know since printers are a bit of an odd duck in computing - either people dont need them or assume they haven't changed a lot in recent years.Brother printers still seem decent, but IIRC their color printing options are lacking. They're great for businesses. Personally, Epson gets my vote since they have been streamlining their printer designs while still keeping them "simple stupid". Plus tank printers are to die for.
