If you were going to spin up a good old fashioned #forum but with a modern twist - preferably not self-hosted - what would you use?I'm looking to retire a #phpbb board that I inherited a number of years ago and don't think any of the board members would want to take it on (of not have the tech skills to do so).

Thanks @leo - I'll certainly take a look at that. I think some members may bristle at the change from the good old forum concept, but then ,- they aren't the ones putting their hands in their pockets 😉

@mastodonusercount sustained growth of around 1000 new users per hour for a while now, this can't be due to having to pay for SMS 2FA surely. The friction to set up an authenticator app is surely greater than moving to the fediverse.
