       So this is me updating Debian running on a virtual machine on my NAS.Except that I'm doing this on a PowerBook 1400 from 1996!It's set up with a BlueSCSI v2 DB25 with a Pico W which, thanks to the beta firmware concocted by @jcs and the other @BlueSCSI geniuses, can connect to my network wirelessly (through AppleTalk and TCP/IP)!My SSH client is the cool https://github.com/cy384/sshevenWho said old machines couldn't do modern jobs?

       I'm taking some time off for the first time in forever.While wandering the Brittany coast, I was struck by the amazing variety of colours the pebbles came in.So what does my brain do when encountering what is essentially a random set of colour pixels?Organise them, of course.

       @historyofpunkrock Feargal Sharkey's voice and its nearly-constant vibrato had a huge impact on me as a kid.When "Never Never" by The Assembly came out, it was the first time I'd heard an adult project frailty and sadness through a song (I grew up surrounded by manly-men boomer types).        @historyofpunkrockI heard Henry say some things during one of his spoken words tours 30 years ago that have stuck with me ever since and changed my outlook on life.The legitimacy of one's pain.        So today at #fosdem, I:- got excited about running a modern Linux on my Sun SPARC- learned about a networking stack that's resilient to adverse conditions (Reticulum)- bumped into Holly Borla of the Swift language team- saw smolBSD boot in 15 milliseconds- learned that e-paper can refresh at 60Hz when you give it the right controller- choked up when listening to people talk passionately about sovereignty in this dangerous world- ate fries and wafflesCan't wait until tomorrow!
