@nixCraft i'm bitter... 15years fighting for, internal fight between managers lobbying for MS or outsourcing the interesting bit to expensive cabinet or sweatshop which didn't deliver, then Azure came in (with their $$$), the IaaS/PaaS we built with a fraction of money got trashed...Those who blocked us will be the one acting like they knew it and were concerned about sovereignty.fuck it.

Well, I have replaced the screen of my wife's Lenovo Yoga and got back my trusty T480s.I used the opportunity to install #FreeBSD 14.3, I speedran the XOrg part by using @vermaden X11 Window system article, for the rest, I just replicated my linux application stack, less than 1 hour.Still to validate:- WiFi speed (actually 2.7MB/s), not sure if I benefit from the latest works.- battery life- suspend/resumeResponsiveness, 2D, 3D, video: flawless.

@subnetspider @nuintari as much as I love OpenBSD (did you even seen my avatar). your conclusion is a bit weak.OpenBSD is not as deployed as these products and is not a target for hackers due to this.Finding exploits is expensive, so you have to be motivated for : - bountys? - damaging the brand? - damaging the company/institution etc...or even- research which is not free

@stefano Not good. Only people who were teenage in 2010s would think that. One who just discovered Ubuntu or was more webdev oriented. It matches the disinterest on infra/sysadmin stuff of that specific era when all the junkie salesmen were pushing for azure, aws and other serverless BS...And yes, Microsoft sucked and still sucks. The "right tool for the job" is a fallacy from people who would not really care, often FreeBSDsters :)M$ is about coercion, never technical merit.

what do you think about https://opencollective.com ?Is it a good platform (as in no-BS, no-OpenWasher) for FOSS project? I prefer to donate thru liberapay or SEPA for project when they have the option. For individuals, I tend to contact them directly.#foss sustainability

@antoineturmel @fabi1cazenave Ou utiliser #servo ? certes, le projet avait décidé de changer d'objectif et d'en faire une biblio plutôt qu'un navigateur mais la donne pourrait avoir changé.

@rms The #AI bubble will eventually blow up.With the contemporary genocide in #Gaza in plain sight, MAGA doing shit right to the eyes, EU playing a proxy war...There's no need to burn coil/sink water in compute, hoard on NAND chips to fake anything.

@XLibreDev Sorry, but this looks like a desperate move to show off Xlibre with these unknown, insignificant forks of forks(eg viriato, vipnux, falconux/dragonux...)never heard about these.I'm all for X11 continuity and Xlibre success, but you should focus on posting about your progress, plan, feat., mythbusting... Unfortunately, from outside, so far it just look like a rebranding and it's a bit cringe.no offense.
