I am slowly realising that #PeerTube is so much cooler than I thought. Actually amazing. For those who make videos and rely on donors and/or selling their own ads it seems almost perfect.Like so much in this corner the world, #Fediverse, #Linux, etc., the real problem is just convincing people to use all this great stuff.

If you have your own domain and use #Wordpress it is extremely easy to connect to the #Fediverse. People really should do this.@oligneisti@storiesoficeland.com

That would be 113° on the original scale Celsius came up with. The boiling point of water was 0°. Linnaeus and others came with the idea if reversing it which feels like the greatest improvement imaginable. If course we might have gotten used to it like Americans who defend Fahrenheit (despite the fact it is just nonsense).May I ask where in Sweden? My sister lives in Dalarna so I have visited quite a few times.@selea

I've been to Rättvik and Göteborg (Icelandic: Gautaborg). But there are large swathes of the country between Göteborg and Stockholm which I have yet to explore and I haven't been farther north than Älvdal.@selea

I would buy more #BluRays if it wasn't such a hassle to rip them. I don't have a #BluRay player. I have enough things to plug into my TV. I do have a BluRay drive but there is a whole thing you need to do for it to work.People who do actual #piracy do this all the time. They get a kick out of defeating #DRM. For the rest of us it feels like we are being kicked by DRM for the sole crime of buying #PhysicalMedia.

When Russia invaded Ukraine the #NordicCountries decided they didn't want Russia to take part in #EuroVision. This year people in #Iceland tried to get a similar stance against #Israel and were told that would be too political and EuroVision isn't political.Now the singer of the #Icelandic entry is at best naive about the situation while the song's writer has said the everyone should boycott this year's competition.#BDS

There is a weird talking point about #Gaza that people shouldn't speak out against killing people without understanding the nuances of the history.When #Hamas attacked in October, no one said that you couldn't condemn those killings unless you had a deep understanding of history.Knowing history is good but you don't actually have to know everything to understand that indiscriminate killings are a bad thing.

The government of #Iceland is buying up houses in the town of #Grindavík because of all the #VolcanicEruptions nearby. The owners have to clean these houses before they hand them over.So yesterday my wife's cousin (I do know a lot of people who lived in Grindavík) was going to clean her house and was doing stuff on social media about the process. Then the air-raid sirens went off and she had to get out of town fast before the #VolcanicEruption started.Seems dangerous.

Maybe people would take #RSS more seriously if they understood that it is the basis of #podcasting.The media in general and #creators specifically could spend a fraction of the time they take to "plug their socials" just explaining to people that RSS is a simple way to follow them.I also think creators should free themselves from the dreaded algorithms by creating a feed that is updated whenever they release new content. I would argue that they should try to mirror as much of their content as possible on their own sites to control their own archive.I think that a tool that helps creators aggregate their content across #Platforms would make a lot of difference. Then they can say "instead of following me on all those apps platforms you can just keep updated with rss".It takes a lot of work to format videos for each #SocialMedia platform. You can't just upload your #YouTube video #TikTok but you can upload (or embed) all those videos to your own site which creates a feed that people can subscribe to with any #RSSApp.#YouTubers #TikTokers #bloggers #blogs.@jsit

One weird part of Facebook is seeing people sending birthday greetings to dead people.Some know what they are doing and you can tell by how they phrase their posts. Then there are people who have no idea the person is dead and are just blindly following Facebook's instructions.#Facebook
