I feel really disappointed in therapy. The modern methods are just self-help plus, they are an extension of depression and they perpetuate it, not relieve it. Journaling about some bs, creating schedules, morning pages, afternoon pages, evening pages, whatever pages, overwhelming yourself with a dozen petty tasks like monitoring your thoughts and overanalyzing your reactions - these things are not supposed to cure you. they are supposed to distract you and drain you of your energy so that you don't start asking actually important questions

@Mynona yeah, therapy often feels like the blind leading the blind. therapists are trapped in the same system so how they help me cope or escape it?

A brief follow up on my previous post. When I was diagnosed with the generalized anxiety disorder, at first it felt relieving. Finally there is some decent explanation why everything sucks! And then it stopped being so exciting. Therapy didn't make much sense. Antidepressants and tranquilizers helped somewhat, but I was told that the main thing is the cognitive-behavioral therapy. Except that I didn't agree on how it goes. The therapist assumed that my predictions about the world were incorrect. When I was anxious about overly criticized, or about not performing as well as I hoped, when I was anxious about people being hostile towards me. He always said like "but is it really the case? can we set up a little experiment"? I didn't want any stupid experiments. It felt like walking into a cage with lions after you said that the lions might eat you, just to prove that it might really happen. Although I do have to admit that of course sometimes my predictions were wrong. But I feel like it was like the exception that proves the rule.And now I wonder - am I really ill? Because having a disorder means that your thoughts are irrational, aren't based on anything.I don't believe that it's the case with most women diagnosed either with anxiety or depression. All we do is just we assess the world correctly :l

There is a blogger that I liked to read, sort of forgot about him, but decided to check on him now.He wrote a post about an anxiety disorder. I found it relatable, of course... I was diagnosed with anxiety too, after all. He said it's genetic and that all of his family is anxious, which could be relieved but not cured entirely (whatever that means) His main points were as following:- Your intuition is sick. It can be of help when it is not sick, but right now it is - so you can't really listen to it. You will have to ignore it because it's your disorder speaking. - Everything might feel like aggression towards you, like some kind of personal attack on you. If you feel weak, don't go for what feels like a battle. Take care of yourself and don't let aggressive stuff get the best of you, and if you need - don't read news, don't talk to people who feel aggressive etc. And it just... makes so much sense to me, but also, it's it just life for women?We aren't insane for making correct predictions about the world. The world IS aggressive and our intuition might appear as if we were paranoid - but are we? really? So women get traumatized by men in this world, and then we receive advice like "oh but you should really just ignore your intuition and think that the world isn't actually hostile, you're just crazy"? Anyway, what does it mean to be healthy in the sick world etc

ah fond memories of how i went to the hospital once I was a legal adult and asked them to vaccinate me (because my father didn't) and the nurses looked through my vaccination papers and were HORRIFIED because I wasn't even vaccinated for measles and mumps

I dream about waking up one day and finding out that all of the porn has vanished. Just.. all of it. Pornhub is not a thing. There is no porn on the internet, anywhere. Revenge porn and leaked nudes - all gone. Child pornography - gone. Women anxious about their OF accounts they used to fun - the accounts are gone without a trace. Women enter the dorms and some male students want to "prank" (harass) them by playing a porn video out loud - but there is nothing to play. And I would finally be able to breathe freely.Can you imagine such a world?

Do you think manners are dead? I think part of the reason why the gender stuff really took off is that... there is no etiquette anymore. You know, there used to be rules on how to act and what to do in certain social situations lol. Like, when you enter the door, first let everyone walking out to walk out, and only then move forward. Don't put your elbows on the table etc etc. But it's kinda not a thing anymore, is it? -> a whole bunch of teens who think that they are autistic when they were simply not taught manners and some basic social conventions. I'm not saying it to reprimand anyone. it's really just not discussed anymore imo

@kj00 TBH thats the thing that kinda made me raise my eyebrow - the notion that autistic people don't pick up social cues and otherwise don't follow the social norms because they just don't get them, and supposedly neurotypical people learn them unconsciously.But... all children are taught manners explicitly? Like. I was literally told stuff like "don't talk when you chew", "say hi when you meet someone" etc. Everyone is taught social cues explicitly. No?
