       @stux My closest family is 600ish miles away. Biking is not an option, so I'm staying home with the missus.

       @damianogerli I recently returned an early 90's tech book to a friend who lent it to me a few decades previously -- O'reilly The Complete Internet circa early 90's. The section on the World Wide Web consisted of a paragraph essentially saying how it's a niche service unlikely to catch on because it only works on NeXT workstations. #RetroComputing

       @mttaggart The internet doesn't want to provide me a screenshot of an apple //c dialing up the local universities VAX to enjoy all that the late 80's/early 90's internet had to offer. (although I was "on-line" with a 300baud modem starting in 1984.)

       @slashdot It's a #LifeDay / #Festivus miracle for #StarWars fans.

       @futurebird Trump made specific references (although not by name) to Operation Wetback.... My grandparents fled the city of Los Angels with their kids to a then rural area well outside of the city to avoid it as brown people were being picked up off the street and put on trains to Mexico. (This despite both my grandparents being born in texas (where my ancestors lived for at least 200 years before the Mexican American war.))

       @futurebird I would want the missing features you mentioned plus an HD-Radio tuner. I remember my old "walkman" (it probably wasn't a sony as they were expensive and I was lucky to get a knock-off) had an AM/FM tuner with crap reception so this would be a natural evolution.

       @stux my local UHC provider was hacked/ransomwared over thanksgiving weekend. Five weeks later phones are still not working and my doctor is unable to get results from an office one floor below hers. As someone who has worked in IT for most of my life I am not impressed.

       @matthew in those days (and long after) the HP Laserjet 4 was my favorite / awesome workhorse, especially if you could get one with a jetdirect/ethernet card.

       @Nonilex I'm really not much of a drinker, but we'll see if that's still the case after another year or two of this.

       @Nonilex yup, if El Salvador is willing to accept money to keep them, I bet they'll be just as willing to accept even more money to release them.

       @futurebird I regularly see some unique devices with the #retrocomputing tag showing off their mastodon skills, but whether those same devices are used regularly, who knows.
