@louis for praying at the computer am I right? Do report back on how you like it. I've been using various things in this department myself but most have failed along the way. I'm convinced we were never meant to be sitting at all by now.

@louis The stuff of nightmares, can we please fast forward to the one device revolution, I want conversion like yesterday and not any locked down propitiatory subscription version of it either. The version where we still own our devices please.

@louis I too practise disapproving silence wishing for humanity to take the font seat soon.

One of those evenings when you realize that the contents of that giant mail box you've been keeping carries no sentimental value and oops, its gone. I feel light as a feather now.

Hmm, documentation comes in an giant xls file, what to do. I know! I'll get it into #Emacs so that I can make sense of it!A day later after much nasty cursing, I hate spreadsheets! I finally ended up exporting to freaking HTML and used a firefox plugin to copy table as csv.Every attempt to export to csv from within the spreadsheet would give me something mangled to work with.I feel for anyone working with #spreadsheets day to day, I truly do.

@louis I'm just going to assume that is true because I have no intention of having another look at vscode. To be honest my first look was just to point and laugh basically. You have to love when people try selling it to you with "but you can configure it with emacs key bindings". Yeah, no you can't, not really.

Made a miniature penobscot bow from a twig during my lunch hour today. Tonight shooting skewers at a cardboard box at the other end of the room, some 8 meters away. Incredibly satisfying. Now I want to somehow make a miniature of one of those nifty african tribes bow. They look deceivingly simple. Which probably means it requires much more skill and patience than I have. What can I say, I love my sticks!

@louis haha, not a fan of those two particular languages I take it. I've worked with both and ruby is providing for me currently. I much prefer it to python to be honest.

@louis Haha, this experience mirror my worst fears. I've actually turned down job offers because I felt the ideas behind GraphQL seemed super sketchy and it made me doubt they knew what they were doing.

@delta I really like delta chat as well, but we've found that notifications are not working reliably on IOS for some reason and since one of us is tied to that platform...well, now I have delta chat *and* signal (sigh)

@louis I believe this is the reason everyone and their grandma has written a framework of their own so that they can evolve it on their own terms and schedule.

As a hobby project to play with #emacs I created a page comparing the words of news stories month to month making a word cloud for each month. I like how it came out but its also a bit depressing. So each month corpus is compared with its preceeding month dito and word clouds are scaled based on the whole year. Most of all I developed a new respect for #sqlite which I now think is awesome.https://normal-monday.neocities.org/

@louis I prefer two screens so that I get lots of real estate for emacs and then most other things can stay on the other screen. Two is the sweet spot for me. Tried three and didn't like it. Used to work with just one especially when I was still going into the office, but those days are behind me now. It works ok but feels a little bit cramped from time to time.I'm doubtful limiting yourself to one screen will actually help you focus. I believe focus comes from within. Sure you can get distracted by other apps and notifications, but turning them off makes sense and when I'm really focused I usually miss the notifications anyway.

@mms I used to provision a cluster of services with emacs calling out to the aws client, and using functions on top emacs windowing functions to display server states on the whole cluster on demand :)
