What Linux desktop has the best compositor built in?Sacrificing literally every other aspect,If I wanted to do all I could to use Linux with the "least input lag best performance compositor, that still forbids visual tearing", what would I run?I hate tearing, I hate lag caused by the compositor, I hate input lag. Which one's the best, or is it a compromise to just being fucked all the time.Windows 7 has a decent compositor, and I've not seen a Linux one YET that's as good as its is.

There's many methods across the web that I've seen and tried, over the years, but none were satisfactory- some reset a lot, some have issues. @calculsoberic I have mastos, pleromas, pixelfed, peertube, other things maybe?? it's hard to remember, which is why i have them on my site and in my password manager :3

@LinuxLegend as in compton, compiz, the compositing options in xfce, they're all just abysmally slow, input laggy, and terrible at their actual job

@LinuxLegend i tried wayland recently, and it did have a lot better input delay, didn't tear, and was relatively smooth with frame pacing, and performant, but, it had its own issues that were unavoidable on my setup so i had to switch back to X11 and just turn off the compositor, but even then, X doesn't feel as goodit's a disappointing middleground at the moment, i can't wait for wayland to be good enough
