Shelf! Worth it even if it involved tearing apart my desk setup so I could put it up.

My wife was away last night, so of course I ended up writing kernel patches. Don't tell me I don't know how to have a good time.

Has anyone produced a device that takes 4 SCART inputs and outputs a single HDMI 1080p signal with all of them at once?

Let’s all celebrate the fact that riscv64 is now an official Debian architecture. Lots of work still to be done, but thanks to all the folk who’ve been involved in getting us to this point.

Are EE still the only UK mobile operator with IPv6? I've heard rumours of patchy v6 from Three, but never seen it.

@mjg59 I look forward to video, and am disappointed I didn't see it in person. Could one tie the cookie to a process binary hash (*waves hands about shared libraries etc*) as a way of persisting it across invocations, and also helping with remote attestation verification?

@flameeyes @gsora Oh, so much this. Random black screens, lack of audio, various other glitches, all because my collection of HDMI cables included a number that were barely suitable for 1080p let alone 4K with audio.

It turns out I've never lived long enough anywhere that I needed to replace the smoke alarms, until now.

@revk That reads a lot like you'd be equally a convert to a dual SIM phone, which are more common these days? My main objection to an eSIM is requiring the provider to get involved if I want to move it between devices (e.g. testing, or my phone dies).

First problem: Content filter was still in place (as evidenced by not being able to read today's Jerkcity). Now removed.

Second problem: HE's IPv6 tunnel wants working ICMP to the end point, and Three seem to only allow that for certain netblocks. A lack of other UK tunnel brokers mean I'm running without v6 as a result.

Adhoc video call went more smoothly than expected; seemed to use under 3Mb/s.

I think that can generally be called a success. Noticeably slower than the main FTTP link, but not in a way that made it difficult to work.

I don't suppose anyone is aware of a generic-ish TPM/UEFI validation suite? Something you could run and go "Yeah, looks like the firmware vendor is doing mostly the right things"? I guess at least making sure the TPM is ready for OS use, validating that the event log has details that allow set PCRs to be validated, possibly ensuring appropriate PCRs actually have values?

Yet another airport blocking SSH (and Wireguard) on their WiFi. Thanks for nothing, Stansted.

I have developed a new measure of inflation; #FOSDEM waffle pricing. €4 this year, €3.50 last year.
