A content warning is a literary device. Specifically it is a form of foreshadowing. To add a content warning is to change the story the way adding or removing any other information changes the story.In this sense, preference for content warnings is a preference for a *way* of storytelling. Content warnings mark out a genre of writing.

@skanman awesome. Yeah, it's an interesting format. Here's my approachMy only rule is: 5-7-5 no more, no lessI try to follow a format of situation, expand, subvert also. A strong subversion in the third line seems to be the most valuable piece.There are a few other things I've found also- smaller than you think, then even smaller - there is no room for anything complex or for explanations of simple things- everything must be an already loaded spring - you don't have time to explain that a rock may fall. If you need something that falls, pick something the audience will already understand can fall they they can connect the dots

@freemo dogma is worse than no dogma, true. But not all dogma is equal, some are legitimately worse than others. If an individual doesn't have the time or inclination for serious inquiry, I'd prefer them to be dogmatic about supporting a self-correcting process for uncovering truth than any specific text (2000 years old or newer)
