@sir I heart about zig a while now and thought I would try it now. This is... interesting./home/cyborg/archive/personal/zig/hello.zig:4:1: error: invalid character: '\t' const stdout_file = try std.io.getStdOut();

@sir I'm on Linux. It's complaining about the tab character.

Why are threads on Mastodon displayed as if they are linear while in fact they are branching? Wouldn't something similar to how Reddit displays comments make more sense?

@fedilabPerfect! I was in the middle of repeatedly pressing that button when I saw this toot.Also I would make the button stand on it's own between two posts, not attached to the top one. Now it looks like the more action is somehow related to a single post. I was quite confused about its function when I initially saw the button. And maybe call it "Fetch skipped toots" instead of "Fetch more toots".

@sirI was reading the source code out of curiosity and found this interesting line: https://git.sr.ht/~sircmpwn/himitsu/tree/9659aa4c416730c807891370bd441cb27cd36c10/os/os-linux.c#L54Why are you using a pointer to memset instead of calling memset directly? What security difference does it make?

@sir Interesting, I didn't know that X months ago was a link.Well I just tried it out and against my expectations it didn't link me to another page. Instead it just scrolls me to the commit I clicked X months ago on.What is the use case of this?

@sir But these links will eventually break won't they? When enough commits have been added to push the linked commit to the next page. Also I'm not sure when one would want to link to a commit on the log/summery page instead of linking to the commit (diff) itself.And linking to one of the three commits on the summery page just feels silly.

@quad I had the same issue while helping someone setup Windows 10. Enabling airplane mode also allows you to create a local account.

@sir So I always assumed that your [skip ci] was just an example of what bad ui could be. At least I thought until I scrolled through the history of this file: https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/commits/master/docs/markdown/Users.mdThis resulted in me searching for this post again. Who ever thought this was a good idea?

@sir I like the 'Authentic' and 'Private' prefixes. It makes it clearer to someone who is new to PGP what is going on.

@fedilab Injected in the feed maybe? I don't like new version popups when opening an app.

@sir Ah so you always need a prefix, even when the list has only one repo attached to it?

@sir This would be great. Many younger people in the Netherlands don't have a credit card. The ING for examples requires that you earn at least €650 a month and be at least 18 years old to get one, so many high school students (and others who fall outside of this category) can't get an sr.ht subscription without let's say borrowing their parrents credit card.

@sir an interesting video arguing for children's independence was released just before you made this post: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul_xzyCDT98The same guy also made a video against NA zoning laws: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnKIVX968PQ

@raimu @sir was curious so I went out and checked with my Dutch IP. Needed to disable uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger for anything to show up at all, but they do give a GDPR popup with options to consent and deny.Still they shouldn't be tracking in the first place, and I find it shitty how denying consent is called "Save", but it looks like they are within the law here.

@raimu @sir nvm I take that back. They still connect to a fuckton of tracking domains even when you don't consent.
