@dogo Manhattan is pretty good about this, people will run just lights until they need to specifically signal a car to move unless it is Really Bad

@mimir @azonenberg I only encounter that dialog when my SSD is full, otherwise it swaps out, which works ok since the SSD is so fast. maybe look into upping that?

has anyone done any scholarship on the rise of python? most articles are just rewrites of the wikipedia article, which is mostly a version timeline. I'm interested in /how/ it got popular. Quora says google was an early user, but I don't see a citation :(C has the bell system, java has OOP at the right time, ruby has web2.0, what kicked off python? it's such a generalist language that i don't really know, maybe just "web too and also other stuff"?

@ultranurd I have a feeling that numpy was more of an effect of it's popularity (speeding up scientific computing that was already happening in it) but I have no source for that

@pupnixie i fully subscribe to the theory that the windows POSIX component was there just to technically comply with the US federal government's POSIX requirement, and was essentially calling everyone's bluf that they would actually use it

@scribe that is a great idea, will go on the listI'll check out the inline problem, I'm using a library to assemble the emails so I'm not totally sure I can get that deep into the MIME types, but I'll give it a look

@linear the "ps2dev" library on Arduino looks like it could do something pretty close, you'd just have to make the program send scan codes over serial from the host machinehttps://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/15534/arduino-ps-2-keyboard-emulator-issues I know it's usually not recommended to base your code off of the /question/ part of stack exchange articles, but it looks like a good jumping off point

@billgoats ive had super good luck with them paired with a composite to HDMI adapter, the cheapest and most reliable way I've found to capture analog video by a long shotif you're capturing 4:3 video and it gets stretched out to 16:9, capturing with OBS and transforming it using that works well for me
