We don't know why, but the one really enjoys being furniture covering. It's like, is that comfortable dude? Must be, haha

#WritingWonders 3/1 Intro - (1/2) Hi, I'm Nilly. I do the art stuff. I'm currently working on two WIPs which I'll be talking about this month:-"Jupiter Lane," a horror/comedy comic about several dysfunctional people and their quest to escape a valley where dreams come true. -"Phantasmagory," a suspense/horror novella that takes place in the valley three years earlier.

#WritingWonders Day 1 (2/2) What do you have in common with your MC?Probably more than is comfortable... All of my character work is processing *something*. I usually start with a seed crystal from myself or someone I know and then grow a new person from there. So a lot and a little, depending. There's also things like eating spoonfuls of condiments from the jar, unhealthy escapism, or my compulsion to overshare without actually telling anyone anything. Yeah. 😅

#WritingWonders Day 2 - How much do you know about your MC prior to starting the first draft?Basically nothing. The characters grow out of interactions they have with the situation or other developing characters and end up in completely different places. Christopher started as a spooky man who's entire motive was "villainous force that's keeping the other characters trapped for villain reasons" and evolved into a (still kind of villainous, but now redeemable) protagonist.(CW blood/goo)

#WritingWonders Day 3 Scars, tattoos, and marksOh neat, I get to repost that drawing I'm still smitten with. All of them have various medical/surgery scars I won't get into because it's a laundry list.As for tattoos, Junie (Nick) has his son's name tattooed on his leg. Christopher has various burns and broadcast related tattoos. The Effigy and version of him we see in "Jupiter Lane" is covered in symbolic marks, such as a particularly nasty one from "troubleshooting" The Effigy early on.

#WritingWonders Day 4 MC POV Something you envy about your closest friendJunie (Nick): "Gosh, he's just so, um… earnest. Never met a lie he couldn't fumble, haha. Man'll damn near explode if he's made to keep a secret...But really, it makes him trustworthy in a way, even if he's usually trying to weasel out of something. Is that mean? Ahh, that's mean. Forget it, I'm just jealous. Everybody thinks I'm a serial killer or something, haha. Pretty sure the news reports aren't helping any, aha."

His design stayed the same though. He's pretty much always been "tiny man with a page boy haircut and trenchcoat."

#WritingWonders Day 5 Does your antagonist have any moral boundaries they wouldn't cross? The valley? No. It's whatever people can come up with, and in the words of the apparent antagonist "people are awfully creative."As for the author who has to write it? Yeah, there's a few topics I'd rather not explore in detail.

#WritingWonders Day 6 Describe your MCs eyes-Expressive brown eyes with an intensity that makes people think he's angry about something. He usually isn't, he probably just needs glasses. -Described by characters as "startling blue eyes." The light color makes them look wider than they are, which people find unsettling.-Dark brown eyes, she looks a bit doe-eyed behind her large glasses. She's often distracted, or looking around at something else and it's hard to tell if she's listening.

#WritingWonders Day 7 What color is your MCs living space?I'm looking at those 1950s Sherwin Williams swatches for inspiration, specifically from '51. The Mayor's home is a "Gilded Age of Appalachia" 1800s mansion, but was renovated in 1951 by the Jupiter Lane Project to reflect "ultra-modern" tastes for the time. Christopher often describes the clashing styles with some amount of distaste, but by the main story just doesn't care anymore. It's too much effort to change it.

Upon further thought, Christopher does actually make some changes in the main story. He does away with all the vehicle trophies, but the color scheme remains largely the same, if a little toned down.

Ah yes. Christopher also has many, many freckles. I think this counts. I always forget to draw them and then sit there going "why does he look weird?"
