I still rate seeing Wayne Shorter at the Brighton Dome in the latter 70s with Weather Report (Joe Z, Jaco P and Peter E) as pretty much the finest concert I have ever yet experienced. Absolutely magical, in no small part due to Wayne's 'special something'#RIPWayneShorter #jazz #saxophone

Pretty sure a few of my mutuals (get me! old bloke down with the lingo! π) are well versed in #degoogling so some comments gratefully received. Planning to go over to #lineageos on this old #motorola g7 Plus but although the files are available on the Lineage site they are in the no longer supported list. So, do I care? Is there a better #degoogle option for this phone? Etc etc etc .. π€

@realcaseyrollins thanks and yes, had planned to go to LineageOS but I have (now) the wrong flavour of g7 πI think the Power and Play are for some reason still supported, or were last time I looked a few weeks ago. Am having a look at Murena and the e /os way now as this old phone is still doing fine for me and am pretty sure it will be even better without the Goog.

Can't help sighing every time I hear/read of France being 'left in a mess' after their elections... more of a mess than a far right bunch of neo nazis taking power then? π#frenchelection #frpol

I'm still listening to the homemade speakers I constructed in my late teens, around 1976/77 and they're *still* my go to for final yay or nay on a mix!Simple 2 way design with passive crossover. KEF drivers, a B200 (8") bass/mid-range and a T52 (1.5") tweeter, with cabinet dimensions and crossover design as source by my friend who was a KEF engineer at the time. All built from scratch by me and my Black & Decker 2 speed drill!#loudspeakers #KEF #homemade

When we read the posts from @georgetakei it's always worth remembering that he spent his early childhood in this ghastly place. His positive attitudes and spirit of hope is so very much to be appreciated and taken to heart.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tule_Lake_National_Monument#Tule_Lake_Segregation_Center

Thinking of adding the word 'content' to my filter list. Anyone that uses that word instead of 'music', 'art', 'prose', (et al) is not a friend for me.

@mcmullin @elsemusic whereas I used to play with the chord chart to each tune in front of me, but in reality be playing completely from memory π. In tunes like Stella By Starlight, where the chord sequences are ridiculously long (and all properly 'jazz' too), if I had a momentary blank the worst thing I could do was actually look at the sheet cuz I hadn't the faintest idea 'where' I was in it!? π€£

@mcmullin @elsemusic ha! Love it. My 'apparent' jazz playing is generally 95% a mixture of modal and blue minor pentatonic with 5% 'hit and hope'!

@VikingChieftain @FSonder indeed, the constraints of the equipment and tools available always lead to some highly creative thinking (eg the great recordings made on 4 track machines). There are quite a few dilemmas that arise out of having 'plenty' π€

@futurebird a great poll question and fascinating results/insights.Not sure if I can precis my own UK experience... will try, edit, edit, bit more edit, lose some punctuation, edit, lose some of the 'small' words, edit, edit... "I'll be back".

Look, this may not sit well with some I know, but it's only this silly old sosige's individual thoughts and feelings.I played correspondence chess, in latter days on the internet.I never used a chess book or chess program to cheat.Call it Klingon honour or whatever. And besides, that 'win' would not be 'my win' so wtaf?I feel EXACTLY the same about using some kind of 'creation machine' in my music. I don't even use sample loops or midifile drum patterns. I write it all. It's 'my precious'.

Looking for some really solid #linux advice please.Home server runs #ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish) and all is well. However Ubuntu is up to 24.04.3 LTS now, with 25 LTS not far off probably and I am thinking of updating. To 24.04.3 LTS that is.Sever hosts Wordpress websites, Nextcloud and Postfix/Dovecote emailOnline "blah" ranges from "Sure, no worries!" to "No! The sky will fall!" so is there anyone out there who really knows their Linux onions that can offer a sensible comment?

@selea thanks very much, that's great, and yeah I will go for 24 latest LTS for sure as you're right, no LTS of 25 yet. Best check that PHP, running 8.3 at the mo if memory serves.
