Every time someone asks me how things are going I have to explain that small businesses are doing terrible across the board. Many of us have sales that are only 20% of what we normally do. It seems like a lot of people are completely oblivious to the fact that the economy is doing very poorly.

You may have noticed that food prices are going up but it's not just food prices. It's everything: materials, shipping, insurance, suppliers that we used to depend on going out of business. the constant instability of tariffs and just in general people aren't spending money on nonessential items like art, jewelry and jigsaw puzzles.

I think we're going to survive because we have a couple big sculpture commissions and a research grant hopefully. But we've had to layoff people. Anyways, try to buy from some small businesses this holiday season

I turned @franzanth's incredible art into puzzles! Franz is a scientific illustrator I first encountered on Twitter back in the day, thanks to his hilarious and intriguing posts about invertebrates. He also founded #InverteFest, an online event celebrating invertebrates https://n-e-r-v-o-u-s.com/blog/?p=9940

When we make a big puzzle we can play more games with the puzzle cut. For Ocean Tapestry, we split the image into two types of pieces: Coral-cut for the reef and Wave-cut for the the open water. The color cut edge can make things more tricky for assembly

Our puzzles are made from start to finish in our workshop and the Catskills. The pieces are lasercut from plywood and then the artwork is printed directly onto the wood using a UV printer.

It's been years since we had a functioning FDM printer. We primarily 3Dprint on a formlabs or send things out for SLS nylon printing. I'm considering getting a Bambu P2S combo. It seems FDM printing has dramatically improved in the past 10 years. Anyone have opinions on which machine I should buy?
