@kiwa Never got in trouble, cause my friends and I were way too close to the IT people in high school. However there was a hilarious saga where the main admin guy blocked Reddit, and then we figured out that we could just do SOCKS proxying via ssh to our computers at home.. we got busted when my friend was logging on to Reddit in the same room as the admin.He blocked port 22, but then we just switched to running our SSH servers on port 53 (the school didn't have deep packet inspection) and were more careful around him!

Aaaand the C906 on the Ox64 is booting linux!All I had to do was apply this patch to the B808 SDK, which changes the UART from pins 5 and 8 to pins 16 and 17:https://github.com/sipeed/M1s_BL808_Linux_SDK/commit/baee2020e4dc418363205ac94a2d80deb9477cc2#diff-2a9797bb378ba28b1b87c27b9146f2aaeefd82c6495067352cf2831c7aba6f81Can't seem to type in the terminal for some reason, but I'm sure that's just software on my end.

this is probably mis-placed nostalgia, but i miss when things sucked because it was the best we could do. VHS sucked, but it was the only way to squeeze that bandwidth out of magnetic tape. dial-up sucked, but it was orders of magnitude faster at getting people online versus building dedicated last-mile infrastructure.now? it seems like things suck for way more arbitrary, greedy reasons.

this is key to understanding the vaporwave/analog aesthetic beyond "it's just nostalgia". it's opposite to how most take the capitalism critique inherent in vaporwave, i think. instead of a reflection on consumerist attitudes, the implication is that we were *trying* back then, and we aren't now. we weren't just inventing a new torment nexus every several years to squeeze money from online advertisers. consumerism is preferable to that.
