@nyx i will say i eventually gave up running freebsd on my x220 because of this and other performance issues (thing would get HOT too) - that's just on the x220 though - neither was it unbearable but i'm willing to use alpine to get the most out of itbut even on my other devices it's getting pretty rough, the internet is just fucked

@dot Land past 2006 at the latest (there's no hard date in my mind, but, shortly before the disbandment of the Hyperstition blog suffices as a point of reference) has had very little of value to say, and by ~2011 had more or less fully devolved into the reactionary pseud he remains to this day - you can read A Dirty Joke for his account of the 90s, I feel the past two decades indicate he isn't lying. all that to say not anymore lol - i do like the fiction work he's published since - but he's a bitter, disaffected fascist loser, and has been for some time - NRx is fittingly the theoretical equivalent of whatever coming down from two decades of amphetamine must feel like, and i have no respect for it

@nyx relatedly, i think a huge part of why deleuze is seen as difficult in the first place is that people start from the idea that western philosophy is essentially correct, but incomplete, so therefore deleuze needlessly reinvents the wheel, rather than what his philosophy is actually doing which is cutting out a lot of aimless or outright sophistic ontology - that or they contort it beyond recognition as a resultits not as if deleuze does not say as much himself but most seem uninterested in the idea that his metaphysics might actually be simpler

@nyx @utz an aside but CL has made me despise booleans in every other languagei think NIL is more intuitive than 'actual' falsity, but more practically, it means less typing - even Scheme which is still probably my second favorite language suffers from having made #f its own thing
