there's absolutely no way a giant computer controlled magnifying glass floating in space, specifically designed to focus the sun's rays and beam them down to a precision point on earth could ever be weaponized and misused by the military... no siree bob.

Haha! Looking through all my old 3D models throughout the years and came across this gem. The venerable Pyro GX from the 1990s PC game Descent. The geometry is pulled from the official polymodel extracted from the game's .HOG files! Back in the day I used a point cloud generator to compute the vertices from raw coord data!! Brought it into the 21st century today with 3D printing. #retrogaming

There should be a procedural way for the world's greatest military powers to forcibly compel other sovereign nations to reconcile their differences peaceably. the truth is, certain nations are acutely mentality ill and act out this illness over and over causing endless trauma and waste that the international community must always clean up. but that's not good enough, the premiere powers need to step in and physically subdue and ameliorate these dysfunctional nations.

Just reminded yet again by my news feed that for anyone obsessed with #space #colonization, #moon bases, human missions to #Mars etc. needs to read the complete saga of #Biosphere 2. And also remind yourself that not once in human history has a group of people been able to survive independently in an extremely hospitable isolated environment. It's pure theory that humans can survive without the luxury of an entire planet that caters to their every whim.

So you want to "colonize other planets" sure, sure... Meanwhile while we're waiting to build ships capable of making that dream a reality, do yourself a favor and build Biosphere 3. You should be able to do it right? After all you have an entire world of resources to draw from, it should be a cakewalk compared to an actual mission to another planet. Just think of it as a fun little dry run to show how well you've mastered the forces of nature! You can manage that much, right?

@blogdiva it makes a lot of sense when you think about how many big businesses and multinationals openly talk about death and destruction resulting from their operations as just another cost of doing business. It's factored into their financials, even the extinction of humanity somehow, by some miracle they'll figure out a way to keep going after everyone and everything is dead, maybe they'll monetize ghosts or colonize hell.
