If Louis XIV had focused on curbing the excesses of the nobility in that manner and less focused on domesticating his nobles and crafting a degenerate pleasure palace, perhaps history could have gone in quite a different direction.Decadence kills legitimacy. The French nobility found that out the hard way.There is a reason why Hitler remained unmarried and had one woman who was his de facto private and eventual tragic wife. Or why Napoleon abolished women’s rights despite being the product of the Revolution.Elon is who he is, but then again, American democracy is illegitimate and evil, so it is not like he stands out among the elite.

Some corrections:I would remove Ivan Ilyin and Georges Florovsky from the Conservative list and add John Meyendorff instead.Ilyin was not an Orthodox theocrat, so he does not fit neatly into the Traditional Christian category; at the same time, he was not fully conservative in the modern sense. Florovsky, by contrast, was primarily focused on theology, which makes his placement on the Conservative list less appropriate.These categorizations are not meant to be rigid. For instance, one could argue that Schmemann belongs on the Conservative list just as much as on the Modernist list. It is also worth noting that everyone on this list self-identifies as “traditional,” even the modernists.I recognize that my categorizations are loosely defined and may be open to interpretation. I may refine this framework further in the future.
